Walk It Out - Obesity Free
Walk It Out is a social cause event hosted and sponsored by The World Obesity Federation with the purpose of helping people in the fight against obesity.
The idea was to create an event through which people will feel motivated in taking the next step towards the fight against obesity, to let them see that it is not impossible,
but they need to start somewhere in order to reach that goal.
Logo
In my sketches I tried as many different ideas, shapes and layouts as possible.
I was focusing on the walk part, which is the main thing, so it deserves the spotlight, but I also tried to find the perfect place for the tagline that plays an important role as well.
Digital Iteration and Graphic Standards
In the logo for my event, I went for a solid black as the main color except for the bar that cuts the O in half which is turquoise and orange.
The letter O cut in half is from the logo of the umbrella company my event is sponsored by;
I thought it would be a good idea to have something from the mother company logo in my logo, and that it would also make the two logos go well together.

Typefaces, Colors and Final Logo
I opted for a bolder typeface for the walk it out part, and for a thinner one for the tagline; the colors turquoise and orange belong to the umbrella company logo,
The World Obesity Federation, and it was a good a idea to reinforce the connection by using them.

Target Audience
My event on fighting obesity doesn’t only target people with weight issues, but also those who are interested in knowing more about healthy lifestyles,
and in making their relationship with food and their body even better.
My primary persona choice has fallen on Elektra Rhodes; she doesn’t have weight issues, but she has always taken care of her body even though she could get away with it much easier than others.
I picked her to send a message, a person doesn’t have to have a problem to take care of themselves, it should always be a priority no matter what.
Elektra Rodes is a 35-year-old senior property manager in Los Angeles, California.
She is single, a workaholic, but happy with the life she is living.
She loves working out and being healthy, and she is always looking for new elements to add to her healthy lifestyle given that she is a healthy food enthusiast.
Elektra is an independent, strong and determined woman who always tries looking at the bright side of life.
Aside from her main job, she would love to open her own small gym one day.
Pain Points: control freak-perfectionist-over thinker.
Announcement Discovery and Press Release
For the announcement discovery, I went for a very simple and clean layout;
I wanted the audience to focus on the main matter and not on anything else.
I added a slogan “meet the new healthier you” to grab the audience’s attention, to send a positive message, and to give people an idea of what the event is about.
Event Timeline
1) 1pm Arrival at Carnesale Commons. A staff member will be welcoming the guests and give them further instructions.

Event Environment, Floor Plan, Site Map, User Journey and Elevations
As the main location, I chose the Palisades room.
It is located inside the Carnesale Commons which is part of the UCLA Conferences & Catering within the UCLA Campus in Westwood, California.
The Palisades Room is the largest meeting space on the property, and it can be used as a grand ballroom, and a conference hall, or it can be divided into as many as five separate salons.
The user journey shows the prime person’s journey throughout the event, from arrival to departure, including all the emotions the persona goes through during the experience.
1) Arrival at Carnesale Commons. Elektra sees the sign and a staff member will be welcoming her and giving her further instructions.
2) Go to the lobby on the third floor to be checked in with qr code in the event app. A key of a locker when to put personal items in will be handed.
3) Return the key to the check-in desk, a branded t-shirt, to be worn during the walk, will be given.
4) Introduction to the event in the Palisades Room, salon E.

Wayfinding
The layout of the wayfinding is very simple and on-brand;
I used the orange from the logo as the background color and decreased its opacity a little bit to avoid the orange part of the bar in the logo blending in completely with the background.
I also added the umbrella company’s logo at the bottom.
Business Card
For the business card, I went for a double-sided business card; on the front, we have the logo of the event,
the tagline and at the bottom the umbrella company’s logo on a white background with a turquoise stroke around the card to add something to it and still being on brand.
On the back, still white background, turquoise stroke, information of the event coordinator, his name, his title and his address.
I also added the same turquoise and orange bar that in the logo cuts the letter O in half to make everything look more aligned and organized.
ID Badge and Lanyard, Goodie Bags, T-Shirts and Sweaters
For the ID Badge, I followed the same kind of layout that I did for the business card,
plus I added a profile picture of the person and a barcode that will be scanned.
I decided to add goodie bags to my event collaterals because I think those are always a good idea and very much appreciated.
A very simple white bag with both logos on it, the event one displayed bigger, and some turquoise wrapper paper that comes out from the bag.
The goodies inside the bag include a box with healthy energy bars inside of it, a water bottle,
and an anti-stress ball that can keep people away from snaking between meals.
Guests will be handed a t-shirt to wear during the walk and sweaters will be available for purchase during the event.
They are both white, the logo of the event is on them and the slogan “meet the new healthier you!” has been added to make them look more creative and unique.
The App and Digital Ticket
For the app, I designed a total of 5 pages, a welcome page with a white background that will remain as it is throughout the app,
the logo centered and an orange button to get the guest started; a home page with a turquoise bar at the top, the logo, the slogan, the umbrella company’s logo and the menu at the bottom with orange buttons on a turquoise background.
The menu bar color will change throughout the app from turquoise with orange buttons to orange with turquoise buttons.
We then have an about page with the logo at the top along with a brief presentation of the event and the federation that is supporting it, and lastly a message to the audience.
From this page, the user can go to the tickets page and buy them by clicking the button. The tickets page is self-explanatory, there are two different types of tickets, and different prices,
and an explanation is given to inform what ticket includes what.
The last page is the map page designed for helping people navigate the premises.
The digital ticket will be used to check in the guests upon arrival and it consists of a QR code,
the name and last name of the participant, the name of the event, the type of ticket, the date, time, and location of the event. Turquoise and orange are of course the main colors.
User Takeaways
The first takeaway, it goes without saying, should be the understanding of how serious obesity is and how important the fight against it is.
Other than that, my hope is that the people who participate in this event will feel much better about themselves afterward,
will feel motivated to start taking care of themselves, or keep doing it because there is nothing more important than taking care of ourselves.
I also hope they will feel more hopeful about problems in general and I would like them to realize that the first thing to do in order to solve a problem is to take a step towards it and then everything else,
with consistency and discipline, will fall into place.
